How can you contribute to Community Sponsorship?
Becoming a Sponsor
RISE Lithuania

As a Community Sponsor, you help refugees settle into a safe home and navigate the first steps of their new life. Sponsors also guide new members of the public through various day-to-day issues, such as enrolment into various educational and healthcare institutions, access to employment, social and financial support, and any other daily matters.

Hosting a Newcomer
RISE Lithuania

As a Host, you welcome and accommodate a refugee in your home while also acting as their Community Sponsor. In other words, for a time being you become both their landlord and a guide to your community.

Offering your Housing
RISE Lithuania

As a Landlord, you can offer housing to refugees, helping them start anew with the safety and stability of a home. In this case, you only provide housing without any extra responsibilities outside of being their landlord.

    FAQ
    RISE Lithuania

Why should I become a Sponsor?

Sponsors play a vital role in helping individuals and families integrate into their new community. By assisting them in securing sustainable housing or providing accommodation, sponsors ease the complex process of settling in, ensuring that the person feels welcome, comfortable, and supported in their new environment. This support can have a lasting, positive impact on their lives.

By sponsoring individuals from diverse backgrounds, you can enrich your own experience, gaining a deeper understanding of different cultures and perspectives.

Sponsorship does not require financial support beyond providing rental housing. Why is Housing important?

The stepping stone to successful integration is housing. It is where it all starts – from opening a bank account to registration at various institutions – residence address is an essential piece of information that is required in nearly every official form. By providing rental housing to migrants and making them a registered tenant, sponsors eliminate a large initial hurdle a person seeking to integrate must overcome and assist in facilitating the integration process as much as possible. Under the RISE Community Sponsorship scheme, sponsors provide housing with an additional safeguard: the project team will be there to mediate in case there are any problems.

I want to become a Sponsor. Where do I start?

The first and most important step is registration. By providing detailed and accurate information in your registration form, you increase the chances of making a successful match that will be both fulfilling and beneficial for you as a sponsor, as well as for the individual you’ll be supporting.

    RISE Lithuania

    I have registered. Now what?

    RISE Lithuania

If I don’t have housing to offer, can I still register as a Sponsor?

Yes, absolutely! Any form of sponsorship is welcomed.

If you don’t have housing to offer yourself, perhaps you know someone who rents housing and can help the person you sponsor secure a rental agreement. Even if that’s not the case, you can still commit to supporting a refugee through their integration process as a Sponsor, not a host, thus becoming their guide into your community.

Every type of support makes a difference!

    RISE Lithuania

How long does the whole Sponsorship journey last? What does it entail?

You will be obliged to act as a sponsor for 6 months under the RISE sponsorship program.

As a sponsor, you’ll help the person you’re sponsoring navigate the bureaucratic processes related to their integration. This includes assisting with translating contracts, making appointments with institutions, guiding them to necessary resources or registration forms, and helping troubleshoot any unexpected challenges that arise.

It’s important to note that as a sponsor, you are not legally liable in any circumstances, nor are you expected to co-sign for any services or obligations the person you sponsor chooses to undertake. You are there to act as a guide, friend, and advisor throughout the process.

If you’re providing rental housing, your responsibilities will also include those of a landlord. This means registering the rental agreement with the municipality and helping the person you sponsor register your rental unit as their official residence address.

If you’d like to know more about what this process entails, please feel free to contact us.
